The purpose of the IVGDA is to foster the education and growth of this industry within Indiana by assembling industry professionals, independent developers, students, and hobbyists in an organized setting to encourage:
1. Self Professional Development
2. Group Professional Development
3. Association Asset Development
4. Video Game Development and Production
5. Scholarship fundraising for higher education
6. Business Grant development for independent studios
Purpose:
The Independent Video Game Development Association, a non-profit, voluntary association, desires to establish itself as a recognizable entity through the development and rebranding of a new graphical logo. See the current logo here.
Here’s your a chance to list the IVGDA as one of your clients in your portfolio! You do not need to be a professional designer to enter. Entries submitted by amateurs who want to exercise their creative talents are encouraged to enter and win the contest.
The new logo will be featured on the IVGDA’s website, announcements, marketing materials, letterhead, business cards, etc. Your logo will be the visual cornerstone of our rebranding effort. Participants do not have to be IVGDA members, or affiliated with the IVGDA to enter or win, so please pass this along to any creative friends you have.
How to Enter: Please submit your designs to no later than 12:00p.m. on 15 May 2011. You may enter as many designs as you like.
Participants do not have to be IVGDA or affiliated with the IVGDA to enter. To increase your chances of winning, please be sure to send in your graphic in accordance to the contest guidelines.
Entry Guidelines: All logo’s should follow the following guidelines:
A. Size: 4 inch Square Image
B. Color: CYMK or Grayscale or Black and White
C. Image output: PSD(flattened), TIFF, PNG, AI, or SVG
D. Resolution: 300 to 400 PPI if raster. N/A if Vector
E. Legal Considerations: All images must follow legal trademark and copyright guidelines. If the design/idea belongs to someone else, don’t submit the idea. (no similarities to invaders, Mario jumpmen, Pacman, etc)
F. Design Considerations:
a. Simple in shape
b. Simple in Color Scheme(if applicable)
c. Easily recognizable
i. Reduce to 1” square and squint to evaluate recognizable factor
d. Easily recognizable as related to Video Games
e. Not a complete hack of similar logos already in existence.
f. Incorporate the acronym IVGDA if possible(not required)
Prize: $50, In addition with providing the IVGDA with a visual icon, you will have the logo of a recognized 501(c)(6) nonprofit association to add to your design portfolio, and will also be invited to a secret IVGDA event and receive a free 1 year IVGDA membership paid as a humble token of our appreciation.
Judging: Winners will be selected by a IndianaUploaded vote as usual, IVDGA will choose their preferred logo pending Board approval and announced on the 1st of June 2011. The winning entry will become property of the Independent Video Game Development Association inc of Indiana.
